Our grading information

Four gradings, fourclasses of work.

Each grading is a separate competence, assessed separately. Together they let us carry a building from the ground investigation to the last electrical point.

4GB

General Building

Registered for general building works — houses, offices, schools and similar projects. This is the grading that carries our residential and commercial builds.

Active from 4 November 2024
3CE

Civil Engineering

Qualified for civil works such as small-scale roads, bridges, stormwater and drainage systems — the infrastructure a building sits on and drains into.

Active from 4 November 2024
4SO

Specialist Works — Site Operations

We specialise in site operations, including mechanical and electrical installations, so the services are installed and tested by a graded party rather than subcontracted blind.

Active from 12 June 2025
4SQ

Specialist Structures

Approved for structural work including steel, concrete reinforcement and related specialist work — the elements that decide whether a building lasts.

Active from 12 June 2025

Why this page exists

Because the cheapestquote is usuallythe ungraded one.

An unregistered builder can undercut anyone, because they are not carrying the cost of compliance, inspection or recourse. When the slab cracks, there is no council to complain to and no cover behind the work.

  • NHBRC registration means your home is enrolled and structurally inspected.
  • CIDB grading means an independent body has assessed what we are competent to build.
  • MBA North membership means there is an industry body we answer to.
  • Every number on this page is checkable. Please check it.
